In launching our seventh mentoring program for women in the finance industry we have invited Catherine Fox, Deputy Editor of AFR BOSS Magazine to chair a discussion around leadership with a panel of Senior Executives, David Gonski, Karen Moses and Chum Darvall. The panel will discuss how the Global Financial Crises and economic downturn is a chance to consider new leadership styles. The panel will discuss the problems that have emerged in the way some businesses have been run, the pitfalls of homogenous executive groups and the chance to look for different ways of running organisations. The Women in Finance (NSW) Mentoring for Success Program offers members a wonderful opportunity in support of their learning and career growth, to be mentored by a highly experienced executive from the industry.

The program matches mentorees with successful and experienced mentors in order to promote the personal and professional develoment of women in the industry, and mentoree participation is available to our Members Only. If you are interested in participating next year, please ensure you register your interest when renewing your membership.

WIF (NSW) has engaged Viventé Australia to facilitate and manage the Program over the past four years. Founded in 2000, Viventé is a leadership development consultancy whose purpose is 'creating the leaders of the future'. The core of the Viventé business is built around providing some of the most experienced facilitators and executive coaches in Australia supported by well-researched tools and methodologies.

In conjunction with the launch of its sixth mentoring program for women in the finance industry, Women in Finance (NSW) was proud to host a panel discussion with three Leaders in our Industry at a sold out lunch event on 29 April 2008: THE MERITOCRACY MYTH - how to tackle the real barriers for women Mentoring is a valued tool in facilitating women's careers but the challenges women face are complex. Catherine Fox, Deputy Editor of AFR BOSS magazine discussed the real barriers that women face in a playing field that may not be level with three leaders in our industry. Our fifth 'Mentoring for Success' program launched on Tuesday 1st May 2007 was a sold-out success and the Program closed on 11th May 2007 oversubscribed.
